HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie stressed the importance of the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) as a significant window to promote experience exchange among all segments of society and across the world, praising at the same time the efforts of the Ministry of Culture in its distinguished organisation of the DIBF that attracts so many authors, writers, and publishing houses.
During his visit to the fair, he called on everyone to participate in the fair, make a success of its activities, and participate in the lectures and workshops. He noted the Ministry of Municipality's keenness to spread science and knowledge among its cadres by establishing a committee for authorship, translation, and publishing. It will also encourage employees and researchers at the ministry to author books and scientific research, while the ministry takes charge of its printing, publishing and distribution to document these findings in various fields.
He said that the ministry is showcasing a distinguished number of publications, and books at its pavilion, highlighting the most prominent achievements, especially regarding agriculture, food security, agricultural quarantine, gardens and trees, as well as geology and soil, in addition to the building sector and its requirements.
HE al-Subaie noted the most prominent publications of the Ministry of Municipality, including 'Qatar Municipalities', which deals with the origins of municipalities in Qatar, 'Soil Atlas' and 'Building Requirements in the State of Qatar'.
Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality Dr Fayeqa Abdullah Ashkanani said that the ministry's pavilion includes various publications covering various areas of the ministry's work, including urban planning, agriculture and food security, and geographical information systems, confirming that during the exhibition a number of the ministry's publications will be signed in the presence of a number of writers and authors.
She added that the pavilion also showcases a group of distinguished publications, most notably the book of the annual report of the ministry's achievements for 2021 and 2022, the book on the ministry's contributions to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and the volume of requirements for building permits in Qatar, which consists of three parts, in addition to other publications of a number of departments such as the Department of Public Parks, the Department of Agricultural Research, and the committee for authorship, translation and publishing.
She pointed out that the pavilion includes a distinguished corner dedicated to the Panda House, where a daily competition for kids will be organised under the title "Suhail and Soraya," which includes asking some questions, competitions, entertainment games, a corner for drawing and colouring, in addition to distributing prizes and valuable gifts on kids.
During the first day of the DIBF, the ministry's pavilion witnessed a big turnout from the public in various categories, as the visitors viewed its books and publications and followed the digital screen that displays a number of books related to the ministry's achievements, in addition to the distinguished turnout of children at the corner of the Panda House.
