The first batch of the Qatari Haj Mission has left for the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to make preparations for receiving pilgrims from Qatar during this year's Haj season (1444 AH), the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs said Monday.
Ibrahim bin Mohamed al-Nama, head of the Co-ordination and Follow-up Section at the Department of Haj and Umrah Affairs at Awqaf, said more units supporting the Qatari Haj Mission will leave for the holy city in the coming days. The first batch includes support units that will carry out their work intensively round the clock to provide the appropriate conditions and harness all capabilities to prepare for the reception of the Qatari Haj mission's official delegation.
The support units will work diligently by co-ordinating their efforts based on an integrated system of services while providing the highest-quality services to pilgrims from Qatar.
Al-Nama noted that the Qatari Haj Mission, through its new office in the Al Naseem neighbourhood of Makkah, will provide the best services to pilgrims from Qatar through its affiliated units, and facilitate the performance of Haj rituals by the pilgrims through co-ordination with all authorities concerned and different Haj campaigns.
He added that the Haj Mission is supported by a number of units that provide specialised and quality services to pilgrims. These include the Shariah, Medical, Information Systems, Centre for Communication and Support, Control and Inspection, Holy Sites Services, Administrative Services, Public Relations and Media, Co-ordination and Follow-up, and Airport units.
“These units are co-ordinating with each other and mobilising their efforts to provide the best services to pilgrims from Qatar in order to make the Haj season for this year a success. Also, the units are working to provide the best conditions that will enable the pilgrims to perform their rituals easily,” the Awqaf official explained, adding that all units of the Haj Mission will work upon their arrival in Makkah in order to ensure the various special arrangements for receiving pilgrims as well as a distinguished level of services provided to them at holy sites before the arrival of Qatari pilgrims.
Regarding the efforts of the support units, al-Nama said all units of the mission work intensively throughout the Haj season, supervising the pilgrims and travel agencies to ensure that the campaign owners meet the required conditions and standards in terms of providing means of care and safety along with adequate housing in accordance with the contracts.
Assistance is provided to pilgrims and travel agencies through the Call and Support Unit Centre, including awareness, guidance and health services. The centre is a link between the service units of the Qatari Haj Mission and the pilgrims and travel agencies in terms of legal fatwas, medical consultations, instructions for different sites and ways to access them when needed.
