His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and President of the friendly Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held an official talks session Wednesday at the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana.
At the outset of the session, the Kazakh president expressed his warm welcome to His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, appreciating His Highness Sheikh Tamim's acceptance of the invitation to participate in the Astana International Forum.

Astana International Forum
begins Thursday

The activities of the Astana International Forum will kick off Thursday in the Kazakh capital, aiming to be a platform for prominent delegates from governments and international organisations, as well as businesspersons and academics, to engage in dialogue and search for ways to confront current global challenges, such as climate, food scarcity and energy security challenges.
More than 1,000 participants will attend the forum from around 70 countries, including leaders, heads of state, government officials and directors of international and multinational organisations.
The forum will include over 40 panel discussions and side events covering various topics, such as rethinking peace, conflict and the global order, the future of pluralism, climate change, green transition, energy security, international diplomacy and security, as well as the United Nations' role in ensuring peace and security.
The Astana International Forum is likely to highlight the importance of collective efforts, the need for diplomacy, dialogue and global partnerships to achieve long lasting peace and stability.

The president expressed his aspiration to strengthen co-operation relations between the two friendly countries at all levels, considering Qatar one of Kazakhstan's most important partners in the Middle East. He also pointed to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which falls this year.
On his part, His Highness the Amir expressed his sincere thanks to the Kazakh president for the warm reception. He noted that this is his third visit to Kazakhstan, through which he looks forward to advancing friendship and co-operation relations to broader horizons in light of the enormous potentials and opportunities of the two countries in various fields to achieve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
The talks also dealt with developing and strengthening co-operation relations, in addition to exchanging views on the most important regional and international developments of common concern.
The official talks session was attended by HE the Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani, HE the Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani, HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi, and members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir.
On the Kazakh side, it was attended by Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Timur Suleimenov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin, and a number of senior officials.
The president of Kazakhstan held a dinner banquet on honour of His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation.
