His Highness Sheikh Tamim and the President Mirziyoyev also witnessed Tuesday the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding and co-operation between the governments of the two countries.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement on mutual encouragement and protection of investments; a memorandum of co-operation in the field of trade between Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade; an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of fiscal evasion; an agreement on co-operation and mutual administrative assistance in customs affairs; an agreement on co-operation in the field of recruiting workers; an agreement on exemption from travel visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports; and an agreement on co-operation in the field of higher education and scientific research.
They also witnessed the signing of a co-operation programme between the two countries' ministries of Foreign Affairs for the period 2023-25; a co-operation programme between the two nations' ministries of Justice; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on co-operation in the fields of youth and sports between the governments of Qatar and Uzbekistan; an MoU between Doha Municipality in Qatar and the Municipality of Tashkent in Uzbekistan to establish friendship relations; an MoU for co-operation in the field of culture between the governments of the two countries; a memorandum of understanding and co-operation in the field of agriculture and food security between the Ministry of Municipality in Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture Resources in Uzbekistan; an MoU between the Ministry of Municipality in Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture Resources in Uzbekistan on co-operation in the field of plant protection and agricultural quarantine between the governments of the two countries; and a letter of intent between the governments of Qatar and Uzbekistan for co-operation in the field of investment.
Members of the official delegation attended the signing ceremony at the Congress Center in Samarkand.
On the Uzbek side, it was also attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.
