Russia announced that Pacific Fleet troops had begun maneuvers in the Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk until June 20, with the participation of more than 60 warships and support vessels.
"In accordance with the training plan of command and control authorities of the Pacific Fleet for 2023, an operational exercise of all-arms forces of the Fleet is being held in the offshore maritime zone from June 5 to 20," Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.
The Russian Navy said in a statement that at present, Pacific Fleet troops are deployed in specific areas. In the meantime, naval tactical groups, together with naval aviation, will train to search for and track enemy submarines, and conduct combat exercises against surface and air targets, including rocket and artillery fire.
Additionally, training will be conducted to counter supposedly hostile aviation, from air defense modes on ships participating in maneuvers, as well as logistical exercises at sea.
