HE Minister of Public Health and Chair of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari met in Geneva with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
During the meeting, they discussed the most prominent decisions of the meetings of the WHO Executive Board at its 153rd session and the World Health Assembly (WHA) at its 76th session, recently concluded in Geneva, and means to accelerate the achievement of WHO's goals and promote health and wellness for all.
The meeting also discussed aspects of cooperation between the State of Qatar and the WHO in various health fields and future priorities in the Sport for Health partnership, signed in Oct. 2021 for three years between the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) in the State of Qatar, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), WHO, and FIFA to make the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 a model for major sporting events in the future to be healthy and safe.
On May 31, WHO Executive Board elected Qatar, represented by HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari, as Chair of the Council in its 153rd session for a year.
