The College of Education at Qatar University (QU) concluded workshops titled ‘Education and Good Life Initiative' as part of its ongoing commitment to foster an integrated theoretical framework for education.
The objective was to create a model for an educational environment that contributes to the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical, and social development of the student and the preparation of an exemplary teacher capable of embodying educational and pedagogical values in their school and broader social environment.
The event was attended by HE Dr Hessa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, dean of the College of Education, other distinguished educators, researchers, policymakers, and experts in various fields related to education.
HE Dr Hessa commended the thoughtful and constructive discussions at the training workshops held over five days and emphasised the college's dedication to constructing a well-rounded and inclusive educational curriculum through collaboration with the community.
"The curriculum draws inspiration and resilience from authentic Islamic values, with the ultimate aim of nurturing capable Muslim individuals who can adeptly navigate life challenges. It is our belief that education should not only provide knowledge, as our education is based on Islamic principles. We should design curricula that focus on learners and creative learning. The initiative came in response to integrating education into teaching, and hence, the name.”
Ahmed al-Abadi, a second-year student at the College of Education, said: “The workshops reinforced our understanding of education and the good life. It focused on five pillars: spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical, and social, which help students enjoy and live a good life filled with a comprehensive education."
Rawiya al-Yahri, president of the Students Council at the College of Education (Female Division), described the workshops as an enlightening experience.
