Qatar's International Media Office (IMO) has officially launched its website (https://imo.gov.qa/), which allows visitors to learn more about the mission and vision of the office and the priorities of the country at the international level.
The website launch was announced by a tweet on Thursday on Qatar's IMO handle @IMO_Qatar. Sheikh Thamer bin Hamad al-Thani was appointed director of the IMO in March 2023.
The website includes a section, Q Life, a platform that showcases the people and ideas powering Qatar’s development.
From uncovering the pioneering spirit of the Qatari people to learning more about Qatar’s advances in sports, the arts, business and culture, Q Life’s aim is to educate a global audience about Qatar.
The IMO based in Qatar has offices across the globe with a media attache each to cement relations with media and other stakeholders to communicate the priorities of Qatar.
The IMO was established under Amiri Decree No. 12 of 2023 to communicate Qatar’s achievements, priorities and initiatives across a variety of areas. The IMO is responsible for promoting relations with all regional and international media outlets and provides media support to Qatari government entities.
The IMO is also responsible for issuing press releases regarding the country’s foreign affairs and responding to inquiries from international media. It aims to present an accurate image of Qatar by clarifying facts in a timely manner.
The IMO is a key contact point for all regional and international media, NGOs and think tanks, while also providing logistical support to international media by issuing licenses and work permits.
