The Ministry of Labour has announced that the decision to ban work in open spaces between 10am and 3.30pm will be enforced from Thursday until September 15.
The decision is aimed at protecting workers from the dangers of heat stress in the summer, the ministry said in a statement on social media.
The restrictions on outdoor working hours are implemented every year in Qatar during the summer months. Campaigns are conducted to raise awareness on the issue, while inspections are carried out to ensure that different companies and organisations are strictly complying with the rules and requirements.
The implementation of these annual procedures stems from the ministry’s keenness to ensure the health and safety of the labour force in the work environment, while also taking into account the provision of equipment with the best standards of occupational safety and health.
