As one of the leading universities in the Middle East, QU is committed to providing its students and faculty with innovative technology solutions that enhance learning, research and administrative processes, and such collaborations enable the university to deliver on this commitment, a press statement notes.
Under the collaboration, Google Cloud will work closely with QU to provide cutting-edge cloud technology solutions that will enable the university to enhance its digital capabilities and improve its services to students and faculty.
The collaboration will help QU improve data analytics, streamline operations and optimise resources, ultimately providing an enhanced experience for all, the statement points out.
"Digital transformation is an important part of Qatar University’s strategy, and a vital element for continued innovation," said Dr Hassan al-Derham, president of QU. “Our aim is to build digital competency, the digitalisation of QU operations and sectors, and to implement a smart campus infrastructure. All talents at QU will make use of this partnership to implement their ideas and help translate them using this platform.”
Also, QU will leverage the newly opened Google Cloud region in Doha to securely store critical business data and leverage its scalability in its operations. Ghassan Kosta, Qatar country manager, Google Cloud, said: “The collaboration between Qatar University and Google Cloud Qatar is a significant milestone in the university's digital transformation journey. With Google Cloud's expertise and innovative solutions, QU will be able to provide its students and faculty with cutting-edge technology solutions that enhance their experience and improve their learning and academic research outcomes.”
