The Ministry of the Interior (MOI) announced the start of submitting appeals and grievances stage regarding the registration of candidates for the 7th Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections starting Sunday and ending on June 6.
The ministry said in a statement Sunday that the period for submitting appeals and grievances begins Sunday at all electoral district headquarters, from 4 to 7pm.
The statement referred to the appeal and grievance procedures, which include the right of the candidate to complain about not being included in the lists of candidates. The voter or candidate in his constituency has also the right to challenge the registration of a candidate because he/she does not meet the requirements.
According to the procedures, an appeal or grievance request shall be submitted in writing on the designated form provided that it shall include the basis of the request.
The appeal or grievance request shall be submitted then to the chairman of the Appeals and Grievances Examination Committee with a receipt, the statement added.
The Committee for the Examination of Appeals and Grievances regarding the registration of candidates will decide on them within seven days from the date of their submission, provided that the final lists of candidates will be announced on Sunday, June11.
On Thursday, the stage of receiving applications for registration of candidates for the Central Municipal Council (CMC), which lasted for five days in 29 electoral locations, concluded.
According to the timetable for the Central Municipal Council elections, the campaign stage for candidates will begin on June 11, and will continue until the electoral silence that precedes the polling day set on June 22.
