Al Sadd announced their second signing of the summer after Iranian defender Amin Hazbavi joined the Qatar Stars League giants on Friday. Hazbavi has signed a five-year contract, after leaving Iranian club Foolad Khuzestan.
The 20-year-old is among the rising Iranian stars and is a member of Iran’s U-23 team. Prior to joining Sadd, Hazbavi was linked with a number of Iranian clubs.
Last week, Sadd had signed defender Paulo Otavio on a three-year deal. The Brazilian joined Sadd on a free transfer after opting not to renew his contract with Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.
Before his four-year stint with Wolfsburg, the 28-year-old left-back featured for German club FC Ingolstadt from 2017-2019 after his one-year stint with Austrian side Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub (LASK).
Al Sadd are aiming to bounce back after a trophy-less 2022-23 season which saw them relinquishing their Qatar Stars League title to Al Duhail SC.
Al Sadd, who had to play the early part of the season without their Qatar national team players, finished third in the league and also lost the finals of the Qatar Cup and Amir Cup. The new season will begin on August 17.
