MES Indian School emerged overall champion in the CBSE Qatar Cluster Carroms Tournament held at Loyola International School on May 17 and 18 for under 14 and under 17 categories of boys and girls. The participants were from 10 CBSE schools.
The hosts, making their maiden appearance in the tournament, won the overall championship.
In the under-14 boys,’ individual champion Abdul Aziz bagged gold, and in the under-17 boys’ category, Rizal Haneef secured a silver. The MES team comprising Rizal Haneef Saad, Ahmed Patel, Fahad Inayath Sheriff and Rishi M Anand won silver medals in the under-17 and subsequently secured team championship.
In the girls’ under 17, Jesrin Shan Joy, Ritika Sujil, Zainab Samir and Analin Jacob bagged gold medals for their team, and in under 14, the team comprising Jaza Mariyam, Asvika Rajendran, Adiya K Shib and Anugraha Harikumar won silver.
School principal Dr Hameeda Kadar congratulated the winners. They were honoured in the school assembly. Gigi P Abraham, Mariam Sameer, Salim Nadaf and Afsal S were the coaches who trained the students.
