Al-Ansari & Associates, a Doha-based law firm, has emerged as the winner of the prestigious Corporate Team of the Year award in the Middle East, surpassing 10 international firms in the process, a statement said.
The firm's commendable achievement can be attributed to its instrumental role in drafting significant legislation that has facilitated the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, including the necessary executive decisions and circulars for the legislation's implementation.
The award ceremony, organised by Law.com and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Middle East, took place in Dubai.
The ACC is an esteemed international association with a membership base of over 35,000 professionals across 85 countries.
Law.com International is a renowned legal authority delivering comprehensive coverage of news and insights from the UK and offers global perspectives on the legal industry.
Al-Ansari & Associates embarked on their work for the World Cup back in 2014 when they were entrusted by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy to conduct a thorough review of Qatar's existing legislation.
This review aimed to identify legal gaps and served as the foundation for the drafting of Law No. 10 of 2021, known as the "Enabling Law," which outlined the necessary measures for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Expressing his delight on the occasion, Salman A al-Ansari, partner at Al-Ansari & Associates, stated, "We are thrilled to receive the Corporate Team of the Year award in the Middle East, recognising our contribution to the world's largest sporting event. It is important to acknowledge that this award is a testament not only to our hard work but also to the collaborative efforts of our partners at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Company, and the Security Committee."
Over the years, Al-Ansari & Associates have actively participated in various international competitions and have been the recipients of numerous accolades for their exceptional legal services, particularly from 2014 to 2023. Additionally, they were also nominated, alongside several international law offices, for the prestigious Law Firm of the Year Award in the employment category at the 2023 Middle East Legal Awards, the statement added.
