The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Monday said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recovered QR 71,628 that was stolen from a customer inside a bank.
The accused has been caught and referred to the Public Prosecution.
The MoI, through a video on its Twitter account, said the accused stole a plastic bag filled with money while the complainant was away from his personal belongings and not paying attention.
The authorities concerned were able to spot and identify the suspect after checking the surveillance camera footage.
The MoI said the accused's movements were tracked and monitored, by checking earlier footage, from the time he left home until he committed the crime.
On being confronted, the suspect confessed to the accusation against him, and was referred to the Public Prosecution along with the seized items.
The MoI has urged the public to protect their personal belongings and not neglect them, whether in public or private places.
