MES Indian School teams excelled in the CBSE Qatar Cluster Chess Tournament 2023-24, held recently in four categories.
The Girls’ under-17 team with Vandana Saji Kumar (XI-J), Khadija Ahmed (X-P), Irene E Paul (X-M) and Noureen Abdulla (IX-M) bagged the gold medal, the under-11 and under-19 girls’ teams won bronze medals, while the boys' team emerged second runner-up in under-11, 17 and 19, clinching bronze medals, thus garnering an aggregate of 24 medals (four gold and 20 bronze) in the tournament. With this win, the Girls’ under-17 chess team of MES has qualified for the nationals in India later this year. Mohamed Navas M I, Gigi P, Abraham and Mariam Sameer, teachers from the Department of Physical Education trained the students. Principal Dr Hameeda Kadar congratulated the winners.
