The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) organised recently an award ceremony for the winners of the cultural competition organised by the Civil Defence directorate, in co-operation with the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, during the holy month of Ramadan as part of the 'Safe Ramadan' campaign for school students.
More than 5,000 students from 12 community schools, along with parents and school staff, participated in the event in order to raise awareness of fire safety and prevention methods.
Lt-Col Abdullah Mohamed al-Hail, director of Operations at the GDCD, thanked the principals, parents and students for their active participation in the virtual awareness seminars.
He underscored their role in communication between the General Directorate of Civil Defence and community schools and various relevant institutions, as these seminars included many awareness topics, including home safety procedures, fire extinguishers and lessons on how to use them, as well as how to deal with fire and evacuation procedures.
At the end of the ceremony, the students toured the Operations Department, during which they were introduced to vehicles and devices used in different operations and how to deal with communications.
