Al Rayyan International University College (ARIU) held the graduation ceremony of its inaugural cohort of students in partnership with the University of Derby on May 16, marking a milestone in ARIU's commitment to delivering high-quality education in the fields of international business, tourism management, and hospitality management.
The ceremony, under the patronage of HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, whose leadership laid the foundation for the establishment of Qatar's first private university, brought together faculty, staff, and parents, a statement said.
The partnership between ARIU and the University of Derby began in 2021, following the approval of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Through this collaboration, ARIU offers UK-accredited and internationally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, empowering students with a global perspective and equipping them for thriving careers in their respective fields.
The graduates represented diverse nationalities and backgrounds. Over 60 students were awarded their Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
Congratulating the graduates and their families, HE Sheikh Faisal expressed his heartfelt admiration and best wishes for their future endeavours. He highlighted the significance of their achievements in contributing to the growth and development of Qatar by saying:
"We feel proud today of what our graduate sons and daughters have achieved, this is the beginning of success, distinction, and positive change in the world around them. A brilliant future awaits you, in which you are part of the development and prosperity of your country."
Professor Kathryn Mitchell, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Derby, addressed the graduates: "The University of Derby is extremely proud to work with Al Rayyan International University in a successful partnership that has thrived over the past three years. We are delighted to celebrate our first set of students graduating with a University of Derby degree. I express my gratitude to our colleagues at ARIU for their unwavering commitment in delivering high-quality education and outstanding opportunities for our students to flourish in their chosen paths."
