Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Department of Colorectal Surgery will host the seventh Qatar Colorectal and Gastroenterology Conference from May 18 to 20 at HMC’s Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Centre and Radisson Blu Hotel Doha.
The conference comes as part of the continued efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services in the country and aims to promote knowledge-sharing among medical professionals and to provide clinicians with the latest updates on the treatment of colorectal and gastroenterology conditions. The conference is also aimed at highlighting the latest medical and technological developments in this field. The conference is expected to attract about 300 participants from Qatar and other countries in the region, in addition to several international expert speakers.
Dr Mohamed Abunada, senior consultant and head of HMC’s Department of Colorectal Surgery and chairman of the conference organising committee, said: “The conference will discuss the latest developments in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical treatment of colorectal and gastrointestinal diseases. The conference will include lectures delivered by 34 speakers, including 16 speakers from HMC, and will address topics ranging from colorectal cancers to inflammatory bowel diseases, as well as other gastrointestinal disorders."
This year, Dr Abu Nada noted that medicine students at Qatar University and Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar will be invited to take advantage of the conference topics. Also, this year's conference edition will witness a live broadcast of surgeries from Hamad Medical Corporation's main operating theatre all through to Itqan Clinical Innovation and Simulation Centre, to enable participants to observe the details of surgeries performed by using endoscopy and surgical robots.
