The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, in co-operation with Qatar Museums (QM), has unveiled ‘Smile,’ an artwork by the Qatari artist Ahmed al-Maadheed, on the Doha Corniche.
QM Chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani was present at the inauguration.
The committee chairman, Mohamed al-Khaldi, said the artwork is part of the initiative to support local artists and their creative skills, and leave an artistic legacy for future generations.
QM's Public Art director Abdulrahman al-Ishaq said public art in Doha creates a platform to showcase artistic talents.
Artist al-Maadheed said it’s a pleasure to work with the beautification committee and QM to present the ‘Smile’ artwork, which is a significant contribution to his career.
The artwork reflects the noble message calling for smiles, optimism, love and peace, he added.
