The Behavioral Healthcare Center, one of the centers of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, which is under the Ministry of Social Development and Family, organized a training workshop entitled "Skills for modifying the behavior of children and adolescents to prevent behavioral deviations."
The workshop targets parents and experts in the field of parental education and was implemented by chairman of the board of directors at the Preventive Youth Awareness Association in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Hamad Mashkhas Al Otaibi, who is a specialized trainer in youth issues and a lecturer in parental education.
In his opening speech, the Behavioral Healthcare Center's Executive Director Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hamdah Al Nuaimi said that the family is "considered the nucleus of society and the source of its strength and cohesion. It is the first school where individuals learn and acquire their skills and behaviors. Therefore, in our endeavor to serve the community, we must give greater attention to families as partners in achieving Qatar's National Vision 2030, which includes one of its main goals of 'preserving strong, cohesive families that nurture their children and adhere to moral, religious, and higher values. We have been keen to provide an annual program plan that aligns with the requirements of individuals in the community, including annual family awareness workshops addressing the most important developments facing families in the local community."
In this regard, the Director of Community Awareness Department at the Behavioral Healthcare Center Jawaher Abu Alfain said that this workshop is part of the efforts undertaken by the Behavioral Healthcare Center to achieve community awareness among different segments of society, including the provision of specialized annual workshops for parents, and it is a recognition of the importance of promoting behavioral awareness, confronting deviant behaviors, and eliminating them, in order to maintain the security and stability of society.
She concluded by saying that the Behavioral Healthcare Center always seeks to be aware of the current requirements in society in the field of behavior modification and the dissemination of positive values. It believes in its active role in providing support to all segments of society through offering diverse workshops and programs that attract distinguished trainers and lecturers specialized in various fields."
In a related context, the Head of Programs Department at the Behavioral Healthcare Center and the project manager Al Anoud Al Marri emphasized that this workshop aimed to train 50 parents and specialists in parental education on how to protect children from deviant behaviors by equipping them with skills to modify the behavior of children and adolescents for prevention. She also said that the workshop dealt with a range of topics, including understanding the concept and characteristics of behavior, understanding behavior modification and identifying the main objectives and directions for behavior modification.
