Qatar University's (QU) College of Education organised an event to attract high school students to the teaching profession in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
The event included introducing the students to the College of Education and its various departments, programmes, and majors, and encouraging them to choose the appropriate specialisation based on their future goals, tendencies, and interests.
The students were also introduced to the 'Tomouh' programme launched by the Ministry of Education years ago in co-operation with QU, to fill teaching positions in government schools with qualified national cadres.
HE the Dean of the College of Education, Dr Hessa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, said the college had a plan aimed at attracting high school students to the teaching profession, adding that this event serves the college's goals.
She noted the importance of the teaching profession and its role in shaping the future and raising generations. She also talked about the college's motto and the five pillars it set to embody the motto, which includes the spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, and social aspects.
The college seeks to promote these values in its programs and enable students to understand and apply these values during their studies, in addition to promoting cooperative education and student-centered learning, she added.
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the College of Education Dr Aisha Mohamed al-Ahmadi pointed out in a press statement the importance of introducing students to the teaching profession, the role of the college in qualifying teachers, and the nature of programmes and majors available to students to engage in the educational field.
