Marking the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, Qatar National Library (QNL) is organising Monday a webinar titled "75 Years since the Nakba: Archiving as a Tool to Promote Existence and Identity" in cooperation with the Khazaen Foundation for Community Archives.
Ikhlas Ahmed, tour & exhibition officer at QNL, will present a brief overview of the Heritage Library’s collection of items related to the written history of Palestine.
Fadi Asleh, who specialises in writing Palestinian rural history as a parallel source for reading Palestinian history, will discuss the importance of archiving through the work of the Khazaen Foundation.
The webinar will discuss the value of re-collecting and re-reading archives with the aim of learning and consolidating strengths and developing projects directed towards building knowledge. Khazaen is a community archive that documents people’s stories by collecting materials and short-term publications (brochures, flyers, invitations, posters, documents) in addition to photos from Palestine and the Arab world.
The Zoom webinar will be livestreamed via QNL's YouTube Channel, Monday, from 6.30pm to 7.50pm in Arabic and English. Registration for the event is closed.
