Doha-based Filipino residents Moises Lois Ilogon and Kristian Salatan Narca brought home the Bronze and Silver medals after competing in the Kun Khmer competition of the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia.
Ilogon or “Coach Lois” and Narca or “Coach Chano” won the Bronze and Silver medals, respectively, during the Kun Khmer event, which is a martial arts discipline akin to Muay Thai. Both athletes are coaches at Gym MMG Mandirigma, which is located in Doha.
During the SEA Games, Ilogon, who is a three-time Muay Thai national champion, won the bronze medal in the men’s 60kg division on May 9, while Narca reached the finals in the men’s 57kg division on May 11.
In 2015, Ilogon won the Impasug-ong Gold and the Best Fighter Award. He was also a Uni Super Championship Vietnam silver medallist and a Thailand World Championship Finalist in 2019. His mixed martial arts (MMA) record is an impressive 5-0.
On the other hand, Narca won the bronze medal in the World Youth Muay Thai Championship in Bangkok, Thailand (2017 and 2018). He also won silver in the Jincheon First World Martial Arts Mastership in Chungbuk-do, South Korea in 2017.
Narca took home the silver medal in the Asian Muay Thai Championship in Macau, China in 2018 and a bronze medal in the 2019 World Muay Thai Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.
Gym MMG Mandirigma emphasised in a statement that it is “celebrating with the entire Filipino community in Qatar, as well as in the Philippines, in congratulating both athletes for their great achievements in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.”
