The INTERCOM Doha 2023 Conference will begin Sunday at National Museum of Qatar.
The event will run until May 9.
The international event will gather professionals who are specialised in museums from over the world to converge and overcome challenges, hurdles facing cultural institutions, as well as discussing the latest innovations and trends in the museum field.
Hosted by the Qatar National Committee of ICOM, the conference comes under the theme of: "Museums and their future: how to lead for success", and is organised by ICOM-INTERCOM in partnership with Qatar Museums, and in collaboration with CIMAM, ICOM SEE and and ICOM Croatia.
Being the most prominent cultural institutions in the region, Qatar Museums undertakes a pivotal role in leading the change and work as a model in the museums sector.
The National Museum of Qatar, the entity that hosts the conference that was inaugurated in March 2019 and designed by the famous architect Jean Nouvel, seeks to preserve and pay tribute to Qatar's heritage and its natural history, interact with its present and inspire the country's ambitions for the future.
Through a series of keynotes, panel discussions, workshops and communication opportunities, the conference will provide a platform to share ideas and to get familiarised with the best practices in the area of communication and the museums sector.
The event will be structured in three main themes, all related to visionary museum leadership, including the museum leader profile, key skills, and essential mindset of the leader, visions for the future based on a cross-cultural exchange of knowledge and experiences, and museum governance.
The event will welcome delegations from around the world, including museum directors, curators, educators, researchers and communication professionals.
