The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Saturday announced its plan to implement 22 new building projects worth QR4.1bn.
Unveiling Ashghal's 2023 building projects plan, Yousef al-Emadi, Projects Affairs director, said in a press statement that the year 2023 has so far witnessed the tendering of new project packages to include 22 building projects with an approximate total value of QR4.1bn.
“This is in addition to tendering more projects in the third quarter of this year. Ashghal is continuing to complete infrastructure and public buildings projects according to Qatar’s plan,” he said.
Al-Emadi said six projects worth an estimated QR1.1bn, include the construction and development of several buildings in co-ordination with various authorities.
He explained that about 10 projects are under implementation with an estimated value of more than QR3bn, most notably the development of Hamad General Hospital, the establishment of
Madinat Khalifa Health Centre and Qatar Academy Sidra, and the rehabilitation of the veterinary laboratory building of the Ministry of Municipality.
The director of Projects Affairs added that there are six other projects under design, such as the two projects of the courts complex and the Court of Appeal and Cassation, which recently announced a design competition to obtain the most beautiful architectural idea, in addition to the design of the main post office building in the Thumama area and the design of the land transport Customs building.
Al-Emadi concluded by saying that another package of projects is also planned to be launched in the third quarter of 2023 based on the plans.
The Public Works Authority had announced last week, in co-ordination with the Supreme Judiciary Council, the launch of a design competition for the establishment of eight new courts. These include the Court Complex project and the Court of Cassation, and the competition seeks to obtain the best architectural idea, within the framework of the State's plan to develop justice systems and services.
The Court of Cassation project will be spread over a 50,000sqm in Wadi Al Sail, while the Court Complex in Wadi Al Banat will occupy 100,000sq m and house seven courts.
