The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) recently released the 111th issue of the 'Qatar Monthly Statistics' bulletin, highlighting the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during March 2023.
According to the PSA data, a total of 806 traffic accident cases were recorded in March 2023, showing a monthly (February 2023) increase of 20.7% and an annual (March 2022) decrease of 0.5%.
Minor injuries accounted for most traffic accident cases during the same month, with 93%, followed by severe injuries with 5%. Seventeen deaths were also recorded, accounting for 2% of the total traffic accident cases.
March 2023 also saw 190,546 traffic violations, recording a steep 81.5% rise over February this year and a 16.7% decrease compared to March 2022, the data showed.
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar increased from 2.83mn in March 2022 to 3.01mn in March 2023 at an annual rate of 6.3%, while the monthly increase was 0.8% (compared to February 2023).
Regarding vital statistics, the bulletin said 2,139 live births were registered during March 2023. There was a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 5.1% compared to last month. On the other hand,
233 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 9.4% compared to February 2023.
Moreover, March 2023 witnessed a monthly increase of 18.4% and 36.8% in the number of marriage contracts and divorce certificates, respectively, compared to the previous month. The total number of marriage contracts reached 367, while the total number of divorce certificates was 145.
