Indian javelin throw sensation and 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal winner, Neeraj Chopra, and his coach, Klaus Bartonietz were honoured at MES Indian School on Wednesday by the management, staff and students.
Chopra addressed the students, sharing his success story, the challenges he faced, and the hard work he exerted to achieve glory. He urged the students to pursue their passions and never give up on their dreams. He also emphasised the importance of discipline, dedication, and determination in pursuit of success.
This was followed by cultural programme, pyramid formation performed by the students of the Junior Section to the tunes of a popular number wherein Chopra waved the Indian flag and a video presentation on his remarkable achievements. He interacted with the students and answered their questions. He also shared some tips and tricks with the young sport enthusiasts, encouraging them to stay focused towards their goals.
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, in which Chopra was honoured by the school's administration with a memento. The students also presented him with handmade cards and bouquets.
School's officiating president Khaleel A P, general secretary Hazmal Ismail, deputy general secretary Ahmed Isham, director Faisal Mayan and members from the Qatar Athletic Federation were present.
Boys' Section head boy Ashkar Mohammed welcomed the gathering and Girls' Section sports captain Afiya Haroon proposed a vote of thanks.
