Tents set up by the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs to provide Iftar meals around the country received some 350,000 fasting people during the holy month of Ramadan.
The meals were provided through the “Iftar Sa'im Endowment” project for fasting people for 1444 AH, which is part of the initiatives implemented by the Waqf bank for righteousness and piety at Awqaf.
Director-general of the General Directorate of Endowments, Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohamed bin Ghanim al-Thani, affirmed the directorate's keenness on holding Iftars for fasting people during the holy month, to fulfill the conditions of the honourable endowers and to achieve the goals of the Waqf bank for righteousness and piety in promoting community partnership.
He praised in this regard the efforts of the endowers and philanthropists who contributed to the Iftar initiative for fasting people, QNA reported.
Mohamed bin Yaqoub al-Ali, assistant director-general of the directorate, explained that this year’s tents provided meals for about 12,000 fasting people daily at various sites.
The tents were set up at 10 locations, such as Fereej bin Omran, Al Khor, Al Wakra, the Industrial Area, Thursday and Friday Market in Ain Khaled, Al Sailiya Central Market, Al Rayyan and Al Aziziyah.
Awqaf selected the best-quality restaurants to prepare the meals and asked them to strictly adhere to health measures and requirements while ensuring environment-friendly and recyclable packaging.
The distribution and other related matters were conducted by experienced supervisors who ensured that all the requirements of the beneficiaries were met.
