The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has launched a pilot project to add the ‘3-year-old’ level in four public kindergartens (KGs) from August this year.

"Believing in the importance of investing in early childhood, and in accordance with the best practices of global and the most successful educational systems, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has launched a project to add the '3-year-old' level; as a pilot phase, it will be added in four public kindergartens starting in August 2023," the ministry said in a tweet.

The pilot project will be implemented at Abu Hanifa Kindergarten for Boys in Doha Municipality, Al Manar Kindergarten for Boys in Al Rayyan Municipality, Al Khawarzimi Kindergarten for Girls in Umm Salal Municipality and Zikret Kindergarten in Al Daayen Municipality.

“The ministry selected the kindergartens for the pilot project after carefully following certain criteria and taking their location (in populated municipalities) into consideration,” the ministry said.

Under the plan, two classes with a capacity of 16 seats in each of these four kindergartens will be allocated for the project. Students’ registration will be carried out according to the geographic location of their residence.

Early childhood education (3-year-old) helps students get strong foundations for building their personalities and capabilities to serve the community.
