Campers at the northern and middle areas of the country have continued to remove their winter camps to hand over the sites to the concerned environmental inspectors as soon as possible as the winter camping season was over.

Local Arabic daily 'Arrayah' reported that the owners of these camps have hired a good number of workers to remove the camps, tents and fences around their sites to return the place to its former status before handing it over to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

Most of these camps were equipped with all the necessary means of comfort and were fully furnished with modern lighting systems, means of entertainment and other luxury items. Earlier, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change extended the winter camping season until April 29 in response to the demands of campers as the end of season was originally scheduled for April 1 and hence the permits were going to expire on same date. The winter camping season at the northern and middle areas started in November last year.

This winter camping season included a number of newly updated conditions that all campers had to abide by which include keeping a distance of 100 metres between the beach and the camping site, in addition to banning the installment of any fences or barriers that would impede or block the access of the visitors to the beach.

Such safety distance condition was introduced to protect the campers of any potential high tide, as there were some incidents of camps that were flooded with sea water over the past year due to their proximity of the beach. Besides, maintaining an adequate distance from the beach would make the constant works of beach cleaning possible, in addition to maintaining the safety of some sea organism such as turtles in some particular areas across the country.

As for camping at the southern areas, which cover the Sealine and Khor Al Udaid, the winter camping season is set to be concluded on May 20. The start of this season was delayed to December 20 last year to start after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, so campers could enjoy more time.
