The 23rd Annual May Queen Ball, organised by the Goan Welfare Association, Qatar (GWA), will be held at Radisson Blu Doha on May 11.

The highlight of the event will be the crowning of the 23rd May Queen by celebrities. The annual event expects guests from the UK, Portugal, US, Canada and GCC to attend along with local guests.

“Bollywood celebrities attend this mega event every year and that has helped us build a bridge and strong bond among Bollywood celebrities and the Indian community in Qatar,” said Simon D’Silva, president of GWA.

Since its inception, the association has rendered yeoman service in nurturing the Goan culture and spirit among the large number of Goan expatriates. On a larger note, the association has always been at the forefront of reaching out in connection with various causes.

Goa's famous music band Forefront, powered by six top musicians, namely Agatha Jilugo (lead vocalist), Savio Fernandes (guitar and vocals), Melvin Rosario (lead guitar and vocals), Brendan Noronha (keyboards and vocals), Seby Pinto (bass guitar and vocals) and the newly inducted drummer Leander Mascarenhas, will perform at the event.

Internationally acclaimed Goan singer Sanio Fernandes will enthral Goan music lovers in Doha with his magnetic charm and soulful tunes at the much-awaited event.

DJ SNEA (Sneha Agarwal), an artiste, DJ, actor, mediator and traveller, will dish out Bollywood favourites and English pop/rock. Along with Forefront, Goa’s top host and ace compere Updesh Swar, and Anunsya D’Cunha E Pereira from California (US), will also grace the event.

In the past, the May Queen Ball show has been graced by Indian celebrities, Indian ministers, MLAs, Indian ambassadors to Qatar, diplomats and VIPs.
