Voter registration for the seventh Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections is set to begin on April 30, continuing until May 4, local Arabic daily 'Arrayah' reports. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued Amiri Decree No. 28 of 2023 setting the date for the CMC elections on June 22. Citizens, who hold voting rights and are registered on the voter list, are invited to vote in their constituencies.

The committee, in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has chosen 29 public schools as the polling headquarters for electoral districts across the country. The executive panels working under the supervisory committee for the CMC elections are confident of completing all proceedings with ease.

According to the schedule published by the supervisory committee, the preliminary voters' list will be published on May 7 while appeals and grievances will be accepted until May 11.

The stage of adjudication of appeals and grievances regarding the voters' list will take place from May 8 to 18, followed by the announcement of the final list on May 21, the report states.

The nomination applications will be received from May 21 to 25 while the preliminary lists of candidates will be announced on May 28. Appeals and grievances against any candidature will be accepted from May 28 to June 5. The process of adjudicating appeals will be held from May 29 to June 8 while the final list of candidates will be announced on June 11.

The electoral campaigning will start on the same day and continue until the day preceding the voting date. Voting will take place on June 22.
