The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO), in partnership with the British embassy in Qatar, is holding a musical celebration of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The concert will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, Auditorium 3, from 7.30pm on May 4.

The concert will feature a blend of traditional and contemporary music commissioned for previous coronations, with masterpieces such as Handel’s 'Royal Fireworks Music', Walton’s 'Orb & Sceptre', and William’s 'Fantasia on Greensleeves' being performed, among others, the QPO website says.

The concert will feature Renchang Fu, conductor; Anton Pavlovski, cello; and Joris Laenen, trumpet.

The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms is scheduled to take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. Charles acceded to the throne on September 8, 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II.
