Ooredoo has announced the launch of the Ooredoo Nation League, a pioneering initiative designed to enrich and upgrade the local esports community.

The Ooredoo Nation League aims to provide an authentic esports experience for local gamers and act as the leading hub for gamers in Qatar, solidifying Ooredoo's position as the number one choice for gamers in the region, a statement said.

Sheikh Ali bin Jabor bin Mohamed al-Thani, CEO, Ooredoo Qatar, said: "Esports is growing rapidly in popularity, and we are excited to be supporting and developing local gaming talents while showcasing Ooredoo's commitment to innovation and providing the best gaming experience for our customers. We are thrilled to provide a platform for local gamers to showcase their skills and compete in authentic esports tournaments, and are proud to partner with Dell Technologies and Quest Esports in this initiative." The first set of quarterly games will begin on May 3, 2023, and conclude at the end of June, followed by three additional seasons consisting of three months each. The League will be held throughout the year, with the pool of headlining games rotating every quarter.

Registration for the first set of games will open today. Updates and dates will be available on the Ooredoo Nation website and social media pages.

The League will feature FIFA 23, League of Legends, Valorant, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and the tournament structure and format vary depending on the game. A detailed rulebook and guide for each game will be made available to participants. Tournaments will primarily involve a single elimination bracket and may feature Best of 1, Best of 3, or Home and Away matches.

To register, participants must be living in Qatar and adhere to the age requirements set by the game publishers. Registration can be done via the Ooredoo Nation website at www.ooredoonation.com. For successful registration, participants must have local Qatar numbers.

Cash prizes and giveaways will be available throughout the tournaments, and only Ooredoo SIM card holders will be eligible to collect prizes.

The tournament is organised in partnership with Dell Technologies and managed by Quest Esports. Local gaming influencers and Ooredoo Thunders brand ambassadors will be involved in challenges and games during the League.
