The annual I'tikaf programme conducted by the Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar), under the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), for Muslim reverts is evoking a good response.

An official statement from Awqaf said dozens of reverts of several nationalities are taking part in the programme, which provides them with a great opportunity to learn about Islam’s spirituality and virtues.

The programme also features training to overcome difficulties and daily habits to achieve acts of worship by fasting throughout the holy month while staying together at the mosque.

Meanwhile, the centre has concluded its Ramadan programme, the Bin Zaid Forum that targets non-Arabic-speaking Muslim communities. The programme was attended by 700 people from the Bangladeshi community and more than 300 persons from the Malaysian community.

At the end of the Ramadan programmes, held at Oxygen Park, a number of attendees interacted during an introductory session held by the centre. The sessions included conversations and lectures about Arabic learning books. The centre distributes hundreds of books in different languages to preach Islam and promote Arabic.

The women’s section of the centre hosted a lecture in the Filipino language for Muslim women about Zakat al-Fitr. The lecture was held remotely and attended by 20 women from the Filipino community. These lectures aim to educate non-Arabic-speaking Muslim women about Islam while giving them guidance.
