Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has concluded a tripartite partnership agreement with Red Cross of Chad and its Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) aimed at strengthening mutual humanitarian co-operation to meet the needs of the most vulnerable population of Chad.

The agreement was signed by QRCS president Youssef bin Ali al-Khater, Red Cross of Chad's Khala Ahmat Senoussi and Chad’s MoPH advisor Dr Youssif Mohamed El-Nour Shata.

The ceremony was attended by Faisal Mohamed al-Emadi, acting secretary-general; Dr Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, director of Relief and International Development Division; Adel Ali al-Baker, director of the Office of the President; Mohamed Rashid al-Marri, director of Communication and Public Relations Department; and Said Tijani, head of Asia and Middle East Unit.

Al-Khater commended the agreement as setting a legal framework for QRCS’ work in Chad, offering different forms of assistance to the public, as well as to build the humanitarian and relief capacity of the Red Cross of Chad.

Senoussi said: “I am grateful for your hospitality. It is my honour to make this tripartite agreement during the holy month of Ramadan, one of mercy and forgiveness. I hope for further co-operation among QRCS, Chad’s MOPH, and the Red Cross of Chad”.

In accordance with the agreement, QRCS will open a representation office in Chad to upgrade relations with the Red Cross of Chad, under the umbrella of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, supervise the execution of humanitarian projects/programmes on the ground, engage the personnel of the Red Cross of Chad in providing assistance to meet the key needs of the people of Chad, and exchange experience and skills between the two sister National Societies within QRCS’ vision and strategic plan.
