Souq Waqif restaurants have been experiencing brisk business throughout the holy month of Ramadan with greater demand on Iftar reservation as many families and visitors are keen to experience the heritage atmosphere of the popular location.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that due to the good weather throughout Ramadan many preferred to have their Iftar gatherings in the outdoors at Souq Waqif restaurants becoming a favourite destination due to the diversity of the cuisines they offer.
The eateries offer a variety of cuisines and cultures from the region and around the world, including Gulf, Arab, Asian, European, Iraqi, Iranian, Indian, Syrian and the Qatari cuisines among others.
Speaking to Arrayah, a number of officials at some of these restaurants stressed that their reservations for the Iftar throughout the holy month of Ramadan hit almost 90% during weekdays and 100% during the weekends.
Gayyath al-Amri, deputy manager of a restaurant, said that his eatery offers a unique experience with the Levantine cuisine in a unique folkloric atmosphere and exquisite traditional Syrian decorations. His restaurant offers open buffet during Iftar, where every customer could find the food that appeals to him or her. He stressed that this Ramadan the turnout was exceptional and the management has decided to give special offers to further boost business.
Mohamed al-Arabi, restaurant manager, said his restaurant offers a variety of dishes from the Indian, Iranian, and the Lebanese cuisines that would appeal to different tastes and preferences, especially during this time of the year.
Hatim AlHaj Omar, a restaurant manager, said the unique ambience of Souq Waqif attracts many people and the restaurants benefit from such a beautiful location, especially during special occasions and season such as the holy month of Ramadan. He said that the turnout on group Iftars at the restaurant are very high this month.
A considerable number of operators of many restaurants at Souq Waqif stressed that the holy month coupled with the good weather conditions have boosted their business considerably over the past few weeks, Arrayah added.
