A strong earthquake measuring 7 magnitude on the Richter scale struck deep off of Indonesia's Java island on Friday.
The quake had a depth of 594 km. There was no risk of tsunami, the country's geophysics agency said.
The quake was felt in the urban centers of Surabaya, Tuban, Semarang and Bali's Denpasar, according to the disaster agency.
Indonesia straddles the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, a highly active seismic zone, where different plates on the Earth's crust meet and create a large number of earthquakes and volcanoes.
