Qatar Charity (QC) organised an Iftar programme for Ghanaian and Ugandan communities in Qatar. Some 750 fasting persons from both communities attended the event, held under the supervision of QC's Social Development Centre – Communities.
This comes within the framework of the continued implementation of the projects under the ‘Ramadan: Leave Your Mark’ campaign since the beginning of Ramadan for the Asian, Arab, and African communities in Qatar. It aims to promote the values of solidarity and cooperation among members of different communities and consolidate cultural interaction between them.
The Iftar programme included two sermons delivered by the community heads. They spoke about the virtues of Ramadan, fasting, doing good deeds, making charity, and adhering to the laws of Qatar.
Aliguma Saul Rayan, chairperson of the Ugandan Community in Qatar, thanked the philanthropists in Qatar and QC for bringing the community members to break their fast together. He said that it is a wonderful opportunity for them to meet each other during the holy month and enhances community cohesion. He also looked forward to co-operating with QC in the future and participating in its activities and events.
Mohammad Tomani, president of the Ghanaian community, expressed his happiness to participate in the first Iftar organised by QC for his community, praising the previous co-operation with QC, which provided protective supplies to the members of his community during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also noted that this event enabled him to gather members of his community and contributed to strengthening the bonds of social communication between them. He also thanked the benefactors of Qatar and QC for organising the Iftar, hoping that QC will continue to hold such events on different occasions.
Mohammed Rafae al-Hassan from the Ghanaian community said the event fosters unity in the community. Efobanks from the Ugandan community said: "I am very glad to be here to participate in this Iftar, which brings happiness and joy to the members of my community, and I look forward to such a gathering in the future.
The ‘Iftar for Expatriate Communities’ programme is expected to benefit 22,000 persons from various communities, including the Sri Lankan, Filipino, Indonesian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Pakistani, Indian, Arab, and African communities throughout the holy month.
