Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants (QCPA) marked on Saturday its 17th anniversary as part of its efforts to elevate the accounting and auditing sector and prepare highly qualified cadres to meet the needs of all ministries, institutions and agencies.
QCPA Chairman Dr Hashim Al Sayed said that the celebration embodies a process of building and continuous work, in which all members of the profession contributed with determination, and the State of Qatar's modern renaissance under its wise leadership that sees investing in human beings as the greatest investment.
He added that the celebration brings to mind many years of achievements, during which the association was able to take a prominent place in society and among civil society organizations, and was able to gain the trust, credibility and respect of everyone who dealt with it. The QCPA exerted great efforts to qualify cadres with a high degree of creativity and excellence based its firm conviction that the human being is the engine and the main driver of the development process, and that he is the means and goal of development, Al Sayed said.
He pointed out that 2022 was a historic year full of achievements, in which the State of Qatar - under the vision and directives of its wise leadership - witnessed a comprehensive development boom in various sectors, the most prominent of which was the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 hosting, the best in World Cup history that wrote a glorious history for the State of Qatar and a great legacy for future generations.
Highlighting the QCPA's activities in 2022, Al Sayed said it organized 153 training courses for 44 agencies as well as 29 conferences and forums for around 10,979 beneficiaries, stressing that the association's efforts come within the framework of its vision in support of the national economy and Qatar National Vision 2030.
He added that the QCPA earned a number of awards and certificates from many parties, in appreciation of its efforts, the most prominent of which was the honoring on the sidelines of the 8th meeting of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Social Affairs and Social Development of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At the local and international level, he praised the selection of the association as a civil society organisation to meet with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Evaluation Committee and present a vision of the state's efforts in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing, pointing out that the State of Qatar, in this regard, has obtained a distinguished and advanced evaluation.
Al Sayed hailed the support of Ministry of Social Development and Family, and all ministries, agencies and institutions that opened their doors for fruitful and successful cooperation with the QCPA. He also praised the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority for inviting the association to attend and participate in the meeting with the official delegation of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime with the aim of reviewing the country's implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption.
