Qatari stars Mutaz Barshim and Aberrahman Samba announced their participation in the Diamond League rounds of the 2023 sports season.
Mutaz Barshim, who holds record in the high jump for the Diamond League rounds (2.43m), confirmed his aspirations to achieve the best results in the rounds of the current season and to make additional achievements after wining the Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 and the third gold in the World Championships Oregon 2022.
Talking to the press, Barshim added that he seeks to win the Diamond League rounds and defend his title in the World Championship to be held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, in August, and the Asian Games in China at the end of this year, indicating that he has completed his preparations and set his plan to meet challenges and achieve his goals.
For his part, former world 400m hurdles bronze medallist Abderrahman Samba affirmed his recovery from injuries as well as his full readiness to start the 2023 sports season from Doha on May 5.a
Samba said in press statements that he will return to the track after an absence of two years in which he did not participate in any tournament, adding that he will be keen on a distinguished return that will help him achieve success in the season that includes the World Championship, the Asian Championship and the Asian Games.
