A number of publishers in Arab and foreign countries, who participated in the Ramadan Book Fair, described it as an opportunity to invest in the atmosphere of the holy month in the development of religious and cultural knowledge.
In remarks to QNA, they said the exhibition, which is currently being held at Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal, is an important Qatari initiative to enhance cultural awareness, especially those related to a religious occasion such as the holy month of Ramadan.
Bassem Adwan from That Al Salasil Company (Kuwait) said: "We are participating for the first time in the Ramadan Book Fair, an outstanding initiative to promote Islamic culture and knowledge." The company focused to exhibit books and topics that are appropriate for the occasion.
Manager of Al Dar Al Ahlia For Publishing & Distribution (Jordan) Mahmoud Abu Toug expressed happiness in participating in the fair for the first time."We found a remarkable turnout at the exhibition," he said pointing out that Al Dar Al Ahlia presented many publications on history, politics and literature.
Founder and manager of Yildiz Publishing (Turkiye) Maryam al-Sulaiti said the publisher has previously participated in the Doha International Book Fair, and appreciated the choice of the month of Ramadan to hold a book fair. She pointed out that the house is interested in publishing and translating from Turkish and Arabic.
Qassem Mansour of the Arab Network for Research and Publishing affirmed the network's keenness to participate in the Doha International Book Fair, "but this is the first time that we are participating in the Ramadan Book Fair."
For his part, researcher and publisher Majed Shubar, director of Al-Warraq Publishing House (UK), expressed his happiness at participating in the fair, as it is an investment of time in promoting culture in general, especially after the end of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. "This cultural movement contributes to the launch of the knowledge march in the country," he said.
Mahrous Mohamed from Madbouly Bookstore (Egypt) said that Ramadan Book Fair is a good initiative and has proved successful, as seen in the turnout, pointing out that Madbouly, which is keen to participate regularly in the Book Fair, offers various types of topics on history, literature, cinema and theatre. Ramadan Book Fair will wrap up today.
