The Cabinet Wednesday approved a draft decision of the Chairman of the Workers' Support and Insurance Fund establishing departments in the administrative units that make up the Fund, and assigning their terms of reference.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held yesterday through video conferencing.
Following the meeting, HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs issued the following statement:
At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet voiced Qatar's strong condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli occupation forces' storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque at dawn Wednesday, and its brutal assault on the worshipers in the mosque, and the arrest of hundreds of them.
The Cabinet underlined that the events currently taking place in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupied Palestinian territories of dangerous Israeli escalation and repressive practices, and flagrant violation of international covenants, norms and laws, will have serious repercussions on security and stability in the region, and will undermine efforts to revive the stalled peace process, if the international community does not to take an urgent and firm stance to protect the Palestinian people and religious sanctities and compel Israel to respect the resolutions of international legitimacy and immediately stop its measures to change the historical and legal status quo of Jerusalem, and recognise the rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their legitimate right to establish their independent state on all of its lands occupied in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Cabinet then considered the topics on its agenda as follows:

The Cabinet approved, in principle, a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (15) of 2011 on combating human trafficking.
The Cabinet approved a draft cabinet decision amending some provisions of Decision No. (38) of 2017 establishing the permanent committee for the management of seaports.
The terms of reference of the aforementioned committee include following up the progress of work in the seaports, tightening performance control and supervise all employees and workers in the seaports, and working to overcome difficulties and obstacles that impede the proper functioning of the seaports.
The Cabinet approved a draft decision of the Chairman of the Workers' Support and Insurance Fund establishing departments in the administrative units that make up the Workers' Support and Insurance Fund, and assigning their terms of reference.
The Workers' Support and Insurance Fund aims at supporting, securing and caring for workers, guaranteeing their rights, and providing a healthy and safe work environment for them. To this end, the Fund shall exercise all necessary powers and competencies, and in particular it shall have to:
1- Provide sustainable and necessary financial resources for supporting and securing workers.
2- Pay the workers' entitlements decided by Labour Disputes Settlement Committees, and then require the paid amount from the employer.
3-Contribute to the provision and creation of playgrounds or entertainment venues or workers' housing, in coordination with the authorities concerned in the State.

The Cabinet approved a draft contribution agreement between the government of the State of Qatar and the United Nations, represented by the United Nations Department of Political and Peace-building Affairs.
The Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions thereon:
- A draft decision of the Minister of State for Energy Affairs specifying security and safety systems, rules for electrical and water installations, and conditions and specifications for measures and precautions necessary to secure, protect and maintain service delivery equipment and devices.
2- The annual report of Qatar General Organization for Standardization for 2022.
The General Organization for Standardization aims, within the framework of the general policy of the State, to improve the quality of goods and materials and ensure their quality. Its competences include the preparation, approval and publication of Qatari standard specifications for goods and products, methods of operation, examination and testing, raw materials and tools, evaluation principles and standardization of measurement systems, terminology, definitions, symbols, etc., in coordination with the concerned authorities. Other competences include issuance and approval of certificates of conformity to standard specifications and quality marks, setting rules for granting them, accrediting laboratories and non-governmental service devices, and following up local and imported goods and products to verify their conformity with the approved standard specifications.
