The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has honoured two environmental activists for their initiatives contributing to raising awareness of environmental issues, protecting biodiversity, and boosting it.
The activists are Hamad al-Khulaifi, who made contributions for preserving birds and wildlife, and Ali al-Hinzab whose initiative focused on the preservation of plant life by planting local trees in all regions of the country.
HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani, who honoured the activists at Al Sheehaniya Reserve as part of the Environment Pioneers initiative, confirmed that the ministry's goal of this initiative is to shed light on the owners of initiatives that contribute to preserving the Qatari environment of all kinds, whether plants, animals or marine organisms.
HE Sheikh Dr Faleh indicated the possibility of developing this initiative during the coming period to include honouring companies and institutions that contribute to the local environment.
