The Ministry of Labour participated in marking World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD), which falls on April 2 of each year, as the ministry lit its building in blue. The celebration of World Autism Awareness Day comes as part of the awareness campaign carried out by the concerned authorities in Qatar in solidarity with the global campaign entitled "Light It Up Blue," which calls for lighting buildings and prominent landmarks in countries around the world in blue to shed light on autism spectrum disorder.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) marked World Autism Awareness Day, by lighting up its headquarters in Lusail in blue. The ministry's celebration of World Autism Awareness Day forms part of an awareness campaign led by Qatari authorities in solidarity with the global 'Light It Up Blue' campaign. It calls on countries across the world to light up their buildings and prominent landmarks in blue to spread awareness on the disease. Designation of the second of April as World Autism Awareness Day was set upon a proposal submitted by Qatar and approved by the UN General Assembly in its resolution, issued on December 18, 2007.
