The twittering blue bird logo of Twitter changed into memetastic DogeCoin dog on Monday by around 8.45pm Qatar time, leaving users of the micro-blogging platform perplexed.
The logo in the top right corner of the Twitter browser window was replaced by a picture of a Shiba Inu, a breed of Japanese hunting dog. The dog also appeared momentarily when users first loaded Twitter from a web browser.
It’s not yet clear whether the appearance of the dog-icon is somekind of hack, a joke by Twitter’s new maverick owner Elon Musk or something else.
Whatever be the reason of the sudden appearance of the new icon, the Dogecoin rose as much as 30% after Twitter users noticed their home buttons changed into the dog meme after which the cryptocurrency is named, news agency Bloomberg reported.
The dog had earlier been used as the face of a meme crypto currency, DogeCoin, which became an unexpected success during the crypto market boom.
