The qualifying rounds of the 28th Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Bin Thani Holy Qur'an contest for Qatari boys will be held Saturday and Sunday, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has said. Eighteen referee panels will supervise the tests in Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque as of 15:30. Meanwhile, 14 panels are supervising tests of girl contestants which kicked off on Wednesday and run through Sunday in Al Waab district. The categories branch of the contest brings together 610 Qatari nationals including 193 boys and 417 girls. The organising committee of the contest said that the evaluation process would utilise an electronic system initiated by the Ministry's Information Systems Department several years ago. Valuable financial prizes will be awarded for all winners of the competition branches, the committee said. Tests of early childhood branch of the contest concluded on Thursday with participation of 1,681 male and female contestants (nationals and residents).
