The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), in co-operation with the Global Carbon Council (GCC) and the Arab Civil Aviation Organisation (ACAO), organised a workshop on the carbon market and carbon unit programmes for the implementation of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme (CORSIA) plan.
The workshop was held via videoconference with the participation of more than 71 experts as representatives of aviation authorities, airports and ground handling companies from several Arab countries.
This workshop represented a significant opportunity for the participants to discover the projects and initiatives implemented by the State of Qatar in the field of environmental protection, especially the experience of the Global Carbon Council accredited by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), related to the carbon market and carbon unit programmes for the implementation of the CORSIA plan. The workshop also falls within the framework of the implementation of action programmes of the Environment Committee of the ACAO, and the study of all conditions related to offsetting carbon emissions in accordance with the implementation mechanisms of the CORSIA plan.
