I am pleased to be living in Qatar and year after year having the opportunity to enjoy and admire the people of Qatar and their residents during this holy month that inspires many people and introduces to us the great values of Islam.
Now, I know Ramadan, is a month that brings upon us peace, serenity and joy among others, a month of dedication, patience and gratitude. This holy month of fasting, praying and reflecting on the principles of the Islamic faith reminds us every year that thinking about others matters, that life is not just about the daily routine that carries us. Ramadan serves our inner soul and body in many different ways.
Solidarity, union, the thoughts towards the poor are among the beautiful characteristics that are highlighted and observed during this sacred month.
Qatar is the perfect example not only during the holy month of Ramadan but throughout the year — known to be the first amongst many nations helping others when necessary, doing charity work and reducing the damages of the natural disasters.
Therefore, this holy month teaches both the old and the young generations the fundamentals of being a good and a decent human being, the importance of caring for others within our societies and the respect given towards their religion.
One of the other significant characteristics is gratitude. It is a sense of happiness and thankfulness for all the things that God has blessed us with and the satisfaction of what people often tend to forget or take for granted either spiritual or material.
During these 30 days, good actions, and spiritual discipline and dedication to deepen the relationship with God tends to comfort us and drive us to be better with the guidance of the Supreme Being.
I personally have great respect and admiration for all those who give themselves fully to reaffirm their faith, and use this month to reflect on their actions, revisit their actions with themselves and also with others.
On the other hand, it is important to mention that Ramadan is not only about spiritual cleansing but it is also a month of health benefits for our bodies and is purely a month of good deeds, self-discipline, love, patience, empathy and compassion.
On this occasion, I wish you a blessed Ramadan and may God accept your prayers and dedication.
For a long time we have been able to celebrate a month that brings us peace, family unity and joy, a month dedicated to fasting, prayer and reflection on the principles of the Islamic faith.
Allow me to wish all the best today, this month and all the time, valuing our lives!
